The Montgomery (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is one of 285 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, and The Bahamas. The Links, Incorporated was founded in 1946 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the educational, cultural, and civic development of communities. As one of the oldest and largest premier volunteer organizations in the nation, The Links, Incorporated delivers service through five facets: The Arts, Services to Youth, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services.
Three years after the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Montgomery (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was chartered on December 8, 1958, by twenty-two leading women in the Montgomery Community. The twenty-two charter members were activists, educators, mentors, role models, and civic leaders. Today, the chapter membership continues the legacy of civic leadership, legislative advocacy, influential decision making, philanthropy, and mentoring. Members are physicians, engineers, educators, administrators, managers, consultants, attorneys, business professionals, and scientists.
Using professional skills and resources, members of the Montgomery (AL) Chapter provide over 3,000 service hours in transformational programming each year in order to strengthen the community.
