INTERNATIONAL TRENDS AND SERVICES FACET
The goal of the International Trends and Services Facet is to expand the global presence of programs in the areas of education, health and wellness, and cultural uplift for persons in other countries, especially within the African Diaspora.
Matthew 25 Ministries Partnership
In third-world countries, medicines (when available) are dispensed into hands, pockets, handkerchiefs, tin cups, banana leaves or any available containers. The Matthew 25 Ministries is a non-profit organization established to improve the standard of health and wellness in third-world countries. The Montgomery (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has established partnerships with the Montgomery Advertiser and the Matthew 25 Ministries, Inc. to support a “pill bottle drive” twice a year in order to provide containers for prescriptions.
One Mission/One Love
In partnership with the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated, The Montgomery (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has adopted the One Mission, One Love International Initiative as a component of its International Trends and Services and Education Across The Miles Programming. The chapter has established a hygiene supply initiative to support students enrolled in the Watford Hill Primary School in Hanover, Jamaica. Additionally, a Pen Pal Initiative, complemented with technology supports, has been scheduled for implementation.
L.I.F.E. Program
The Links International Foreign Affairs and Business Empowerment for Youth (LIFE) Program exposes minority high school students to career possibilities in foreign affairs and international business. A primary effort of this program is to close the race and gender divide in corporate and governmental jobs, and foreign service appointments.
STEAM Academy
Hands-on activities and field experiences are planned for participants in the STEAM Academy. These opportunities in order to provide an overview and a career exploratory for the global presence of STEAM majors and careers.
